Algebra Tutor Available
Are you trying to refresh your college algebra skills to prepare for a test: CLEP, SAT, ASVAB, etc?
A VOLUNTEER math instructor will be on-hand and will try to assist you with understanding the material or how to work a math problem out. This is NOT a class. Please bring your own study materials, books, or other questions.

GED Classes
Begins May 5. Mon and Wed from 0900-1200. Classes will last 6-8 weeks long depending on the needs of the individual students at MCAS Beaufort, Bldg. 596 Rm. 109. GED National Testing Date is on Jul 26.

Lifelong Learning Scholarship Opportunity
Lifelong Learning offers a second annual scholarship opportunity to active duty or family members attending one of our local colleges. Twenty $500 scholarships are available. Certain criteria must be met to receive this award. 2008 Continuing Education Scholarship
Embarq LLC is pleased to sponsor scholarships for continuing education students who are pursuing an undergraduate college or technical degree. These students will be selected to receive an award by a representation of Embarq and/or the Officers’ Spouses’ Club Board by a blind vote based on the following policies and qualifications. The monetary value of the three (3) Embarq scholarships is $1000 each. more >
The MCAS Beaufort Federal Credit Union and the Marine Corps Air Station Officers’ Spouses’ Club are pleased to sponsor scholarships for continuing education students who are pursuing an undergraduate college or technical degree. These students will be selected to receive an award by a representation of the Officers’ Spouses’ Club Board by a blind vote based on the following policies and qualifications. Reminder:
It may take from 6-8 weeks to receive scores on SAT and ACT tests. If you are an active duty member who wants to put in a package for any officer program, please prepare early for test taking. You may schedule ACT tests at any time of the year, while the SAT takes a break during the months of July, August, and September. Active duty members who test on a military base are not allowed to have scores “rushed” to complete a package. ASVAB scores may take up to 4 weeks to post on MOL so be prepared and take your tests early!

Marine Corps Spouse Program at Excelsior College
Marine Corps to help spouses earn their degrees more easily and affordable. Excelsior College has introduced new programs to assist
spouses with achieving their higher educational goals - the Marine Corps Spouse Program (Military Enrollment Option #1) and the Marine
Corps Spouse Scholarship Program.
The program allows spouses to enroll in undergraduate degree programs under the same terms currently offered only to active duty, National Guard, and Reserve personnel. Non-Lethal Weapons Certificate is available to all
military personnel at no cost.
Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus is pleased to announce that its web-based and DVD-based Non-Lethal Weapons Certificate is available to all military personnel at no cost. This material is based on work supported by
the Department of Defense Joint Non-lethal Weapons Directorate, Quantico, Va. who oversees the development and delivery of the course.
The Penn State certificate is targeted to active military personnel as a familiarization or refresher program on non-lethal weapons operation, and provides in-depth knowledge regarding the appropriate use of these weapons
within the context of military operations. The Non-Lethal Weapons: Policies, Practices and Technologies Certificate consists of seven non-credit modules covering Theory, Kinetics, Riot Control Agents, Maritime and Land Vehicle
Stoppers, Advanced and Emerging Technologies, Public Order, and Decision Making. Students will be awarded one Continuing Education Unit (CEU) for every 10 hours of instruction. A total of 6.2 CEU's will be awarded upon
completion of all seven modules.
Active U.S. military personnel stationed all over the world as well as
reservists are qualified to register for the free certificate. For more

Pay No Tuition at Harvard University
Harvard University announced that from now on undergraduate students from low-income families will pay no tuition. In making the announcement, Harvard's president Lawrence H. Summers said, "When only 10 percent of the students in Elite higher education come from families in lower half of the income distribution, we are not doing enough. We are not doing enough in bringing elite higher education to the lower half of the income distribution."
If you know of a family earning less than $60,000 a year with an honor student graduating from high school soon, Harvard University wants to pay the tuition. The prestigious university recently announced that from now on undergraduate students from low-income families can go to Harvard for free...no tuition and no student loans! Financial aid is also available for families with incomes between 60-80 thousand.
